Description

With the Tascam DP-24SD you're able to make and mix mobile recordings, without the help of a computer. Using the recorder's eight XLR/jack combo inputs, you can record up to eight tracks simultaneously - just plug in your microphones or any device with a line output. Channel 8 is even suitable for high-impedance signals, like those of a guitar or bass guitar. The DP-24SD boasts a number of interesting features, including guitar amplifier modelling. In addition to its eight input channels, another eight faders are at your disposal, each linked to a stereo track. As such, the DP-24SD enables you to mix using no fewer than 24 channels.

The DP-24SD: Storage and Mixing

The Tascam DP-24SD records its tracks to an SD card of up to 32 GB. When you're done recording, you can transfer the separate WAV files to your PC or Mac via USB. Installing drivers isn't necessary, as your computer will instantly recognise the recorder as an external storage medium. Once you've transferred the audio files to your computer, you can import them into your favourite multi-track software for further mixing. However, thanks to its volume faders, knobs, colour display and built-in equalizers, you can also easily and extensively mix your tracks on the mobile recorder itself as well.

Mixing and Recording Functionality

With the DP-24SD, Tascam offers a comprehensive mixing and recording experience. Familiar functions like punch in/out and undo/redo are at your disposal, as are editing options like copy, move, cut and clone track. Each channel has an independently adjustable 3-band equalizer, and several dynamic effects can be used for compression. Meanwhile, a tuner, a metronome and a foot switch input (for punch in/out, for instance) make life even easier. You can monitor your recordings and listen to your mix via the mobile recorder's headphone output, or use its 6.3mm jack outputs for your monitor speakers.
